I spent years as a student who was great at “mimicking” rules but lacked true confidence in math. It wasn’t until I became a classroom teacher and curriculum supervisor that I discovered the beauty of conceptual understanding. This shift changed my life, and it’s now my mission to change the narrative for my students.
From leading STEM initiatives in the US to working with math departments in London, I’ve seen firsthand how the right tools can transform a student’s mindset. I focus on mental math, multiple problem-solving strategies, and real-world connections. I don’t just teach students how to solve equations; I teach them how to think like mathematicians.
As a result of my own math experience, I believe in engaging in conversations with students around “growth mindset” and celebrating mistakes as opportunities for learning.
The instructional tools and strategies I use are based on research about how students learn mathematics. My goal is to foster the development of our students' math curiosity and confidence, and the overall mathematical skills necessary to succeed in larger society.
