Math does not need to be a boring, performative subject. Let's celebrate the joy and creativity in math. :)
Math Studio's core values
- Building positive math mindsets: math anxiety → math joy.
- High expectations for all students and a differentiated approach to help all learners grow, regardless of where they begin.
- Concrete, hands-on modeling as a pathway to abstract understanding.
- An investigations-based approach that develops critical thinking skills, strategy development, the application of concepts, collaboration and communication.
- Frequent practice of skills and fact fluency through mathematical games.
- Dynamic real-world and cross subject-area applications, including the use of technology.
- More importantly, my goal is to foster student growth and to develop students’ abilities, motivation, and mindset to become life-long mathematical thinkers and problem solvers.
All the work we do is aligned to the NJSLS Math Learning Standards and national Common Core, so it will directly relate to the work they do in the classroom.
When your child works with me, they will be asked many questions. My approach is aligned to the article "Never Say Anything a Kid Can Say."
